The Waste Hierarchy

In New Legislation, News, Waste Handling

Waste producers are required by law (Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011) to apply the “Waste Hierarchy”, a ranked list of options to reduce the environmental impact of waste.

At Pegasus we have considerable experience in helping our customers in various industries to apply the waste hierarchy and meet their legal obligations. This also has additional benefits such as reduced operating costs.

In other cases, by-products or excess materials that are considered waste may be suitable for use in other processes, and so could provide additional revenue.

We have created a chart, below, which explains the order of priority, as set out by the EU (Directive 2008/98/EC):

The chart and the information you shared is very helpful to reduce the waste as much as possible; the best policy that should be adopted by the company is to recycle.
